There are tones of brands on the market at the moment selling a huge range of baby pushchairs, strollers and prams and finding the right one without suffering a big case of buyers remorse is a tough job, but to make this task easier we have put together a guide called ‘How To Find The Perfect Pushchair‘ which we have broken down into sections to make things really easy for you.
Choose Your Type
The first choice that you need to make is do you want a pushchair, pram or a stroller? How old is your child? Newborn babies need to lie flat so a baby pram is perfect for them. Are you going to be walking miles from home or are you looking from something that can double as a car seat too? Are you planning on buying it just for holidays/ other times when you don’t need a full bulky buggy with you? In which case you should read up on lightweight strollers.
Budget
Think very carefully about how much money you have to spend on your new pushchair, it’s an investment in your child’s comfort and it’s an investment that should last for three years or more. Shop around to find the best offers (and of course read this site for the latest deals around the net). Get a feel for the prices across the different brands of pushchairs.
Weight
Are you a strapping chap (or lady) who can press 100KG with your left arm alone or are you a petit mum who struggles with the weekly shop? Remember that you will to factor in distance that you travel, there is nothing more energy zapping that pushing your buggy up and down stairs all day.
How Many Children Are You Transporting?
Okay this one should be pretty easy to solve, are you pushing one child, two children or maybe even three or more. Do you need a twin pushchair and if so do you want your children to be side-by-side or do you want one in front of the other?
Maneuverability
Does your pushchair allow you to turn sharply or is it more like trying to maneuver a supertanker? If you are shopping you don’t want to be one of those parents who block the door with their unmanageable buggy.
Style
Do you want to be funky pushing a 3 wheeler buggy or are you going for that timeless classic look. The new ‘all terrain buggies’ have large and chunky wheels to allow for a smoother ride off road.
Baby Comfort
Yeah I should probably added this one right at the start of the list as it’s one of the most important features to look for, you need to make sure that your buggy is comfortable for baby. Does it allow for multiple recline settings. Most of the better models on the market include at least prone, 45 degrees and normal seated. Do you want baby to see where they are going or do you want them to look at you?
Parent Comfort
It’s one thing to make sure baby is comfortable but you also need to make sure that you are comfortable. I am mainly talking to the ladies here, do you remember those shoes that you just have, yeah those ones that cost the Earth but you just had to have them? Can you remember when you wore them for the first time and they were uncomfortable and now have pride of place in your cupboard not having been worn since? Well that is exactly what an uncomfortable pushchair is like. You need to check all the silly little things like is it easy to push with one hand? Can you quickly find everything in the carry pouches?
Finally there are all the other areas to think about too. Do you know what colour you want? Does it come with accessories and extras?
Buying a pushchair is a tough thing to do and really worth the time researching. I hope this guide has helped you learn a little bit more about how to find the perfect pushchair.
Till next time, take care.
